My name is Mathew Benvie and I am the owner and Head Personal Trainer at Evolve Fitness. Growing up, I always wanted to be a gym teacher and a coach, it just didn’t seem like there were any other options. I had teachers, and more specifically, coaches who went above and beyond the call of duty to help me become a better athlete and also a better person. While I knew they didn’t want anything return, I knew what they really wanted was for me to do for others what they did for me. While at St. Francis Xavier University working towards my Human Kinetics degree, I was able to obtain a personal training certification through CPTN. I started working boot camps and then moved to one on one and smaller group training. It wasn’t until I sat down with my favourite Professor, Angie Thompson, that I knew I wanted to be a personal trainer forever. She knew how much I loved teaching and coaching, and told me that personal training is really like one on one teaching. I ended up finishing at St. FX with a B.A. in Human Kinetics, but took away so much more. I did achieve my goal of becoming a coach, while coaching the Bantam boys rep basketball team my last two years of school. I also formed lasting relationships with professors and students that will continue to shape my life as I move forward. I am devoted to helping all of my clients reach their goals in and out of the gym. There is no greater feeling then seeing someone get results right before your own eyes. At Evolve, I will focus on each client’s individual needs and create a program that will bring them to their goals. I offer expertise in weight loss, toning, weight gain and sport specific training. My name is Mitchell Benvie and I am a personal trainer at Evolve Fitness. I graduated in 2008 from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Although I enjoyed Kinesiology, I took a special interest in Nutrition and still enjoy keeping up with anything and everything fitness and health related. Like my twin brother I always looked up to my coaches growing up, and fully expected to become a teacher and coach myself. After spending a few years teaching English in South Korea, I came back and started training, realizing that this was the perfect fit for me. There is no better feeling than interacting with great people every day and helping them to succeed and reach their health and fitness goals. Leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle is of the utmost importance to me, and I try to instill this in all of my clients, making myself available inside and outside of the gym to ensure they always are on track to making the right decisions. I am energetic and passionate about being the best trainer possible. Whatever goal that needs to be reached, I am here to help you reach it.
